*Please note that all records and stats are as of early April when this article was written.

Friends’ Central’s final sports season of the year has begun. The varsity baseball team has started off strong with a 7-2 record. Over spring break, they went on a trip to Myrtle Beach to play against teams from other states. On this trip, they had an impressive 3-1 record. They have a busy schedule upcoming, until the Friends’ School League Playoffs in early May.

The golf team is also off to a hot start. They are currently undefeated through two matches, one against Barrack Academy and another against Friends Select. They are looking to win Friends’ Central’s fourth team title since golf became a Friends’ School League sport in 1999.

The varsity softball team has started their season very well with remarkable wins against Barrack Academy and George School, 15-0 and 16-0 respectively. With important games coming up against Shipley and Friends Select, they hope to continue their winning streak.

The varsity tennis team started their season on a high note as well with a 5-1 record, highlighted by dominating wins over Friends Select and Haverford. Their strong start will hopefully continue on April 10th, when they play a home game against Westtown.

The varsity lacrosse team had a thrilling start to their season with an overtime game against Barrack Academy. They have played two games so far this season and have a packed schedule coming up with games against Westtown, Abington Friends, George School, and Shipley over the next several weeks.

The varsity boys track team began their season with a close meet against Shipley. That has been their only meet so far, but they compete against Germantown Friends, Barrack Academy, Westtown, and George School in the next few weeks. At the end of April, they compete at the annual Penn Relays.

The varsity girls track team started their season similarly to last season: with a win over Shipley. As with the varsity boys team, that has been their only meet. They will have a meet against Germantown Friends and Barrack Academy on April 10th, and they will compete in the Penn Relays on April 26th.

The varsity ultimate frisbee team just started their season with a game against Holy Ghost Prep, the only game they have played so far. On April 8th they play against St. Joe’s Prep, and on April 10th they head to George School.

Overall, the Spring Sports season is off to a great start, and will hopefully finish as well as it has begun. Congratulations and good luck to the players and teams!
