Spirit Night

Jonah Casel (Reporter ‘27)

Spirit Night at Friends’ Central is always an exciting time. Despite having to reschedule this annual event to February 1 due to January snowfall, the crowd still showed up in their Quake attire with enthusiasm.

About the experience as a spectator, Ethan Guides ‘27 said, “I really enjoyed going to the game because it had a great atmosphere.” He commented, “Our student section was very loud and passionate, which was great. It made the game more fun to watch with everyone cheering.” The atmosphere of the game while sitting in the student section was certainly a highlight of the game. Noah Liebman ‘27 added, “It was great to have so many people there who were all cheering on the team.” Noah also wishes that there were more chances for crowd involvement. He mentioned a halftime competition as an example for more participation from the student section.

The Phoenix came up with a 66-59 win over Friends Select in their final regular season game to clinch their spot as the second seed in the FSL playoffs. The game was exhilarating, and although the score was close throughout, Friends’ Central never gave up the lead. Four players, Muhsin Muhammad ‘24, Faz Oshodi ‘24, Reid Belcher ‘24, and Pat Feamster ‘27 each scored at least ten points. As that afternoon was the last regular season game of this year, it is safe to say that the Phoenix finished on a high note. After the game, many younger students in attendance enjoyed t-shirt signings and photos with the team.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to planning and setting up the game, to the cheer team who performed at halftime and throughout the game, and, of course, to the boys varsity team, who had a great 2024 season!
