FCS Spotify Wrapped 2020

By: Chloe English (Reporter ‘24)

It’s been a rough year! COVID-19 threw the world into quarantine within a matter of days and forced the world to stay locked away in their homes. While in lockdown, many people turned to music. Spotify has recently released its yearly Spotify Wrapped, a feature that evaluates and showcases all of the statistics behind the music you’ve listened to over the past year. It houses things like your top artist, the number of minutes you’ve listened to music, and your top genres. A poll was sent out to the Upper School to find out what songs the students at FCS were listening to this year; the results are below.

The most popular decade of music, by far, was the 2000s, as supported by 90.9% of responses. Popular artists from the aughts were Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, and Eminem, to name a few.

Out of all of the people who responded to the poll, only two upper schoolers had the same number-one song of the year: “The Last Great American Dynasty” by Taylor Swift.

The top three genres among FCS students were pop, rap, and modern rock.

Some of the popular responses for the artists who were listened to the most were Taylor Swift, the Original Broadway Cast of Hamilton, Rihanna, Hozier, Khalid, and Gorillaz.

When asked for their total listening time this year, 26.1% of respondents reported 20,001–30,000 minutes, with 1,000–10,000 minutes following closely behind with 21.7%.

Happy listening!
