Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, kids and adults alike were wondering how to celebrate Halloween. As the holiday loomed closer, Google searches like “halloween costumes with masks,” “covid halloween,” and “candy chute” increased immensely. Families across the country were searching for solutions to save the holiday.
So how did people plan to celebrate Halloween? TikTok user @brandon.hardy.art made a candy chute inspired by the sandworm from Beetlejuice, a classic Halloween movie. The chute was connected to a second floor window of the house, from which a person dispensed candy. The candy then slid down the chute, out of the sandworm’s mouth, and was given to the trick-or-treaters below. Other people planned to have small get-togethers with a few close friends (and masks of course) or wore a partner costume with their sibling. Popular sibling costume ideas included Mike and Sully from Monsters Inc and food pairs, like milk and cookies or peanut butter and jelly. However you chose to celebrate, we hope you had a happy Halloween!
