Senior Sunrise: Keeping Tradition Alive

By Sean Scott ‘25 (Editor-in-chief)

On the morning of September 6, the class of 2025 awoke before the sun. After hastily scarfing down breakfast, they packed blankets and set out on the still-dim roads. Where were they at the crack of dawn? They were gathered on the track field for an important Friends’ Central tradition: Senior Sunrise.

In watching the sun climb up over the horizon, warm doughnuts in hand on that chilly Friday morning, the senior class engaged in a symbolic kick-off to the year. This event marked the sun rising on their precious and long-awaited year as the oldest students on campus. This is their year to soak in everything that comes with being a senior, and they are determined to make it count. Once it was sufficiently light outside, they gathered for a picture to capture the moment. (What’s a senior event without a class photo?) The festivities did not end there – next was car decorating! The parking lot was transformed from a rather ordinary assortment of cars into a place bursting with color and the energy of an enthusiastic senior class. Although the festivities came to an end as students went off to homeroom, the start of this day had set the tone for an awesome year to come.

Later that morning, when their turn came to “Rock the Blue and White” in the Back-to-School Assembly, they were ready. They channeled the senior energy flowing through their veins, finally getting to stand up for the cheer and enjoying every bit of it. What a memorable day for the class of 2025, a wonderful way to start what will undoubtedly be their best year yet.
