Longwood Gardens Christmas Lights

By Maggie Lipson 26’ (Head of Layout and Design)

Longwood Gardens is the most magical place ever! It has been a special place for me for a long time. I have gone there with my family ever since I was young, and I have always found the massive greenhouse and fountains mesmerizing.

The most special time at Longwood Gardens is Christmas time. Every Christmas season, Longwood Gardens closes for a few days to set up for A Longwood Christmas, an extravaganza on display for about a month. Everything gets decorated with beautiful lights, and Christmas trees and decorations abound throughout the grounds.

Another awesome thing about Christmas time at Longwood is the carolers there each night. When walking around, you will almost certainly not just see, but hear the Christmas spirit around you. Another highlight that keeps the festivity at an all-time high is that the fountains “shoot out light,” which entails using an electrical system set up so that it looks like the light is water. It is so cool!

Especially with the opening of the West Conservatory earlier this year, Longwood Gardens is definitely a place to check off your list this holiday season and for many to come. Although I would definitely recommend visiting Longwood any time of year, the holiday season is by far the best.
