The eleventh grade Washington, D.C., trip was a very long day. Starting bright and early at 7:45 AM, we boarded the bus to head down. The bus ride was quite long but, overall, enjoyable.

When we arrived in D.C, we first had free time to go grab lunch, so my friends and I walked down the mall and looked around. Once we decided on Shake Shack, we sat down and ate together. The lunch was fun, because we got to truly take our time to eat instead of being rushed by the school day.

After that, we headed back to explore the African American History Museum. This was definitely my favorite part of the trip because it was the most scheduled. We walked around the museum by advisory and got to see many interesting things, like the beautiful fountain. I loved the fountain because the water falls in a circle down from the ceiling, creating a really calming effect.

My favorite part of the museum is the music room. This is a room that has a screen in the center where you can put on music from different time periods and genres of African American history. This room explains that African American culture has impacted many parts of history and genres of music. It is also really cool because it is an interactive, instead of just viewing, experience at a museum.

After this, we had more free time and got dinner before the long journey back to FCS. The trip was meaningful to me because we got to visit a museum and spend a day in D.C with our friends.
